COAR#5- Extended Edition! A peaceful run, and not by choice

This is the uncut version of episode #5! Now hear all the clips that I forgot to put in the original episode, and all for the same price!!Actually, I figured that the original episode 5 would be good for a 2-3 miler, and this longer version with all the recordings I was supposed to have in it in the first place, would be good for a 5-6 miler.

I’m going to remove the shorter version though for bandwidth space purposes, so if you would like to keep this version, then don’t delete it!

SHOWNOTES
Hey yall! This is the 5th edition of the Confessions of a Runner podcast.

I think it’s terrible to have run without music- music makes the world go round! But I also think it’s terrible to think you can’t run without it.

My earphones quit working on Monday. These were the only earphones that would stay on during my runs. I discovered something accidentally, something I had completely forgotten about. It’s called peaceful running.

COAR#3- Defining Success and Fulfillment

Hey yall!  This is the 3rd edition of the Confessions of a Runner podcast.

Where do you find happiness?  Is your happiness defined by one thing that you do or is it a part of every facet of your life?

As runners we set some very high goals for ourselves.  But what happens when we think we haven’t reached the goal?  Have we really not achieved success? Or are we just denying ourselves true satisfaction too early?

For some reason, the more effort we put into something, the more fulfilled we become when get what we’ve worked for.  It has more meaning.

I think of the verb: to fail as optional use.  Failure exists because of our mind.  But if we take failure out of the equation, we can see everything as an opportunity to succeed.

If everything came easy in life, would we be appreciative of anything?

Part of my fulfillment in running is the fun I get from it.  So be a successful runner and go have fun!

As of right now (before the posting of times), I ran my 1st ½ marathon this morning in 2:08:45, which is wayyyy better than what I thought I’d run.  I’m very happy how I ran this race.

Thanks so much for the great comments from Bev, John, JD, Kevin, Susan, Dave, Kelly, Adam, and Nigel. Also thanks you Adam Tinkoff for the shout out on your podcast, Another Runner.

COAR#2- Marathon tests, trials, and training

Hey yall!  This is the 2nd edition of the Confessions of a Runner podcast.

Have you ever kept a New Year’s Resolution for the entire year?  Well, I never have.  So I have decided to accomplish something instead.  I’m going to run my first marathon this year.

After high school cross country I became part of a new running community.  One that consisted of 5k runners, 10k runners, and marathon runners.  I started to read running magazines in college and realized that marathons were very popular among the greater running community.  I never realized that marathon running was so popular!

While in college, the beginning of 2005, I finally decided to take the plunge and go for a marathon.  I did not yet realize what was yet to come.

I am running for myself.  And before the end of this year, I will finally understand what many of you feel when you run a marathon.

Thanks so much for the great comments from Adam, Oscar, Marty, and Matt!  Also thanks you Steve Runner for the shout out on your podcast, Phedippidations.

If you’d like to leave a comment you can on itunes.

You can also send an e-mail to jodi(at)confessionsofarunner(dot)com or leave a comment on this blog or on Confessions of a Runner blog.

My 1st ½ marathon is this Sunday, Jan. 13th and I’m very excited to see what my time will be.
